If you slit the channels down the length of the beetle blaster then you can dump out the propolis and old DE. Then you can refill the blaster with new DE. I've been using mine this way for 2 years now. I've started using the beetle jails that clip on the side of a frame. I like them better because the beetles can't hide under them as easy as the blasters. Thanks for the videos and keep up the great work. I think your making a huge impact on responsible beekeeping across the world!

I live in Northeast Ohio, not a lot of beetles but enough to use the beetle blasters any time you install pollen patties in my opinion. I have used both vegetable oil and lime, I think they work about the same but if I spill a small amount lime in the hive it will not kill the bees. If you spill vegetable oil on them they are dead pretty quick. The oil is messy if you are not careful and if you spill it on your Queen it might not bee a happy ending.

Me and my father in law had an extremely week hive with a bad queen and SHB were getting bad. Well I seen his beetle buster bottom board video so I bought it to try and it completely destroyed all the SHB in the hive.

I just went back to them this year myself, Tried other new methods of keeping them out anyway notice I’m back to them, some they close shut, I like the DT just because it don’t stink and you can forget about them the oil go’s ranched been working well so far. Keep’em coming dude, no use making a joke about your tide and hoping big orange rolls cause we can see how that’s going....

Put a little apple cider vinegar or tiny pieces of banana peel in with the oil. Works as an attractant. Also if you use mineral oil that you can buy about anywhere, it doesn't go bad like veg oil.

You're ending was a good promo for diotomatious instead of oil. It works in mine but it's messy and I usually end up spilling some oil.

You don't have to rip the blaster apart, everything in it came in through the top so you can just shake it clean, then re-use it. DE is also a desiccate and removes moisture from the hive air.

Beetle Blasters and Beetle Barns work great! If you have a lot of beetles, you may, want to get a Guardian Entrance ($10) to use in conjunction with these. I am told that they work very well.

Had great success with beetle blasters just have to make sure they are pressed all the way down against frame tops or they will not work

Our club was talking about SHB oil from mannlake. They claim it lures the beetles to the trap. Have you heard anything like that before? Ideas?

Take a beetle barn trap or an empty CD case, and apply Heavy Duty Double Sided Tape on the inner ceiling and floor of the trap, and see if you catch any beetles that way.

SHB will decimate a colony. You are correct, the beetle blasters are effective.

I'd love to see you test the beetle nails with de. I love them as they can be emptied and refilled. Great videos.
