He also had the best hair in rock 'n roll.

They announced Eric Carmen passed today, then this definitive rock song came on. It sounded just as fresh and exciting as my first time at 12 years old. Its 70s music like this that got me into playing guitar in a band. Play your song for the angels Eric, knowing your music will outlive you.

Was 9 about this song. Thank you, Eric Carmen. I truly hope there is "something " after death that is beautiful. Growing up in 70s truly Great music with warm memories. Thought to his Friends and Family. Death hurts.❤

Utterly outstanding. Great seminal song. Raspberries broke up, but nobody forgot 'em.
Eric Carmen used the same lyric ("Never let me go") for a No. 1 song a generation later...
That's how strong this original piece was.

From the woman's POV. Hard driving rock and soft rock at once. Junior in HS listening on 8 track. Great memories.

Definitely bubble gum rock, but the best of its kind.

Takes me back to those early teen summer nights that magically seemed to last forever.

Your first love, that first kiss.

Aah, the 70's man. You could leave the house and no one knew where you were.

Miss those days and nights!

Sad to hear of Eric's passing, I love their great power pop style. Growing up as a kid in the 70's with an older sister who loved the Raspberries. My sister passed several years ago. The memories of the times will always be with me. Eric was a huge Beatles fan and said he also admired Badfinger when the Rasberries opened for them. God Bless Eric and his family.

One of the greatest songs of the rock era. I used to debate this many years ago with a music geek friend, he started to see it my way. The harmonies, the bass but especially the guitar tone makes it.
This is an edit: what also strikes me is the loud/soft dynamic, which bands such as Pixies and Nirvana used to great success. Could this be the first song to incorporate that? This tune is layered with so much greatness.
