Kevin's comment at 40:15 is correct. That matrix example where we defined a strange addition (adding +1 to each component after matrix addition) is not a vector space as it contradicts the fact that 0*u = 0 vector. Can you fix this example so that it is a vector space? (Maintaining the same addition rule.)

Professor J. Smith, thank you so much for the slow and smooth Vector Space examples and a tremendous introduction to Subspaces. These two topics are on the theoretical side of Linear Algebra and this is where students must think theoretically for solutions to problems.

Thank you. I'm basically teaching myself LA through a text book. Not to hard, until you get to vector spaces. At least for me. This helps alot.
