Lex, you should have Rich Hickey on. That would be a good one.

"Lex" sounds like a good name for a programming language

What a beautiful explanation of some really important and equally difficult to explain concepts. I dropped out of a proof class after the first day, so I'm glad there are guys out there like yourselves to handle the cognitive load for the rest of us! :P

I Learned LISP to automate auto cad and fell in love with it

Lisp product actually is used to make 90 percent of modern and past computer chips . Still being used. Sadly this is not widely known. Problem with tech culture or false reputation

I loved AutoLISP! I could do some external management with it and not just AutoCAD.

Clojure is a modern lisp for production use

nice pun lex. I love LISP. So called "modern" languages aren't really that modern, they're just different. I'm totally biased and love logic programming.

Some "modern" languages like Scala are piles and piles of backward compatibility and breaking changing every release. Of all the languages I've had to use LISP maps the best to FOL and SOL. Plus, writing a parser and compiler for s-expression is way cleaner than other languages. I've written enough parsers for other kinds of languages to make me really love the elegance of s-expression.

Interviews with Doug are a treasure. You should donate these to the CHM

It would be great if the guest talked with a lisp.

I would like to interject for a second, with Common Lisp you can get very close Java Performance.

Lex, when are you going to make your own Lisp dialect called Lex.

The first claim made no sense. You don’t go from a fully compiled language like CL to Java byte code for “efficiency”.

I have been looking to get into LISP mostly because of Mr. Knuth's books. Would anyone recommend a good place to find good information on learning LISP and/or MIT/GNU Scheme?

Whenever there's some wild claim about some newfangled AI performing some mathematical feat (AlphaGeometry, etc), I always like to troll and quip "but Doug Lenat's Automatic Mathematician did that YEARS AGO!!!"

You should invite Bram Cohen to talk about Chia. It has Lisp-based on-chain programing language called Chislisp.

I had a dream saying "God uses LISP programming language"
I never heard or read about LISP. Was about to dismiss the sentence, but looked it up anyway to prove to myself that it did not exist.
.... The rest is history
