As someone in the industry and in a principal position, all I can say is that this has little to do with the employer's sudden interest in diversity and equity. There are no candidates to hire, the job market is empty. The only way to find hires is to grow the supply of hires. And offering programs such as this is part of that. I doubt there would be such a great interest in diversity recruiting if companies could satisfy their demand from the usual pool of "non-diverse" candidates.

That being said, I still think it's great.
