Weirdly enough, this makes me feel a little more sympathetic for Israel.
When they tried the 'surgical' approach of assassinations, and got condemned. Tried letting the leadership live, only to watch them go next door to start again. Withdrew from Gaza and got zero brownie points. There are clearly instances where they dropped the ball, but it seems like most of the solutions people are suggesting can be countered with 'we tried that and it didn't get any results' even if preliminary ones.

Whether one supports Israel or Palestinians, he or she cannot dispute the attack on 7 Oct 2023 backfired badly on Hamas and the Palestinians. They expected to terrify Israel and gained leverage with the hostages that they captured. Previous Israeli retaliation lasted for a few days or a few weeks the most before they backed down under intense international pressure. But this time, the war dragged on for over a year and killed tens of thousands of people. Nobody knows how long it is going to last and how many more thousands people will eventually die.
