After paying off 180k+ of debt I have to say I agree. Do I wish I had more in retirement/early retirement savings? Yes, but I do not regret getting free from the shackles of debt.

I needed to hear that. I do believe if you have no constrains with debt you can invest more aggressively

I started investing in tiny amounts to learn it. My bank allows to buy in with big Things with Just Cents (and Costs and fees). So now i invest every month 10 Euro Maximum in different Things. Its Not much, but its fun... And i Made some money so far. My loans are below 1.8k and I funded my pets first budget fully. I paid almost 5k the last 2 years and cant believe how far i came. All i did was paying everytime i got a Bonus or whatever a lot of my debt.
Now i Need to know mooore about finances. Love this content. Easy to understand

Also, not everybody has such a sweet 4% interest rate on their loans, even after refinancing.

Those who have a lot of debt and drop everything to pay if off quickly also in my view have the discipline to invest with that same intensity once debt free and thus can overcome the loss of time in the market with more investment dollars.

Aja, you're one of the few who speaks on this to the typical Americans. I think others are talking to the 1% who already have multiple rental properties by 28. Even if the interest on SL debt is 4%, it is accruing and capitalizing against a much bigger balance than what most people invest for retirement. Right now the average American only has $95k invested for retirement. So, realistically speaking the majority of Americans would lose out because they don't have anywhere near $200k saved apart from their homes (which they need to live in). Plus we have an increasing 60+ demographic carrying student loan debt into retirement. So, they now have to pay their loans with withdrawals from retirement (that they could have paid down earlier)

Debt (money) is 80% psychological 20% materials. If your debt has a rate of 25% then pay off debt bc investment returns are around 8-10%. Its not pretty… its just math. Hope this helps. 😊

If you look at paying your debt as an investment it’s doesnt sound so crazy.

I’m 35 and I’m thinking about going back to school. If you had to redo student loans this time around, what would you do differently?

I didn’t hear a single thing you said gorgeous… would you mind repeating yourself.

Cash flow is important too. Average student debt payment is like 500 or something, id rather pay off my debt an have that extra 500 everymonth an then you can invest or do whatever you want. Alot easier to invest when you have money to invest in the first place
