Reaction To How Canada Just Got a Land Border With Denmark

This is my reaction to How Canada Just Got a Land Border With Denmark

In this video I react to Canadian geography by looking at how Canadian and Denmark just recently got to share a land border after having a long term border dispute (called the Whisky War)

This is hilarious. I learned about it ages ago and it is always so funny to me. You really get to see the Danish and Canadian sense of humour with this border dispute.

Both Canada and our Neighbor Denmark are two good friendly and very successful countries.

Ahhh, the Whiskey War... The correct way for two civilized countries to settle a border dispute.

Started as a joke that turned into what is known today as The Whiskey War and still one of the friendliest border disputes ever (Hang Overs dont count as battle wounds)

As a Canadian, I was a little disappointed to no longer be on the single-border list, but I love this story so much it's totally worth it. Plus it's fun to have one border be the longest in the world and the other be this tiny thing of 1.2 km.

I kinda miss this old ridiculous border dispute, it was fun to talk about it.
By the way, the reason why it was not split in half (50%) is that they set the border along a geological feature that can be seen in satellite imagery…

This video doesn’t mention that the island is regularly used by Inuit hunters. No one lives there, but it’s a traditional stopping point. The only major thing in the island treaty was both countries agreeing that Indigenous use of the island be unimpeded regardless of ‘border.’

I am jealous of Canada. They suddenly got such a fine neighbour.

I'm Canadian and my partner is Danish, we have joked about this a lot. Things like how we only have to visit family in the country over. A simple joke but something that helped us bond more.

I can’t believe I’ve learned so much about my own country (Canada) by watching this channel. Thank you!

Between Canada and Denmark, we have the greatest volume of fresh water in the world,

Amazing, that, as a Canadian, I've never heard of this. Welcome neighbour and thank you for the video 😊

Take a look at the island of St. Pierre and Miquelon, a couple islands south of Newfoundland, that are still under the control of France, and is governed by the French. A pretty neat little spot.

Am I the only one who’s thinking “A Bordershop” with all you can dream of in tourist traps? Miniature Lego replicas of “The Little Mermaid” and a Canadian Mountie, also in Lego?

I can imagine part of the process of installing a new commander at Alert used to included a trip to Hans Island to get his desk schnaps.

As a Canadian, I'm actually kind of sad that it's been settled:(
I think a lot of us were always kind of proud that we had such a peaceful war going on😂
