More than 300 thousand people lose their lives because of Tetanus. The condition of a person infected with Tetanus becomes very poor.
Most of the population has a perception that Tetanus is caused only by getting an iron cut, although it is not true. A person may get infected if the spores of clostridium tetani bacteria entered his body through the wounds.
After entering the wounds, this bacteria starts to divide and increase its population. Along with that, this bacteria releases a very powerful Tetanospamin toxin in the wound. These toxins affect the motor muscles of our body. At the initial stage, your jaw muscles start to get stretched and the jaw gets locked. Thereafter, the muscles of the neck, abdominal, and other muscles of your body start getting stretched out which makes your condition really worse.
As time passes, the infected person starts to get uncommon sweating, fever, and high-low BP. As the complications increase, severe spasms and stiffness in the muscles cause some mild fractures, and it becomes uneasy for the person to breathe, which ultimately leads to death.
Tetanus can also infect someone if his body comes in contact with an infected newborn with the umbilical cord, or shared unsanitary needles.
