Not a ND fan but I believe Marcus Freeman is a great hire. He checks all the boxes for what players are looking for in coaches today. I think Irish will forget Brian Kelly very quickly.

Been ND fan since I watched my first game in 1989. I was a Brian Kelly fan, keyword “was”. I was upset that he left. But after watching Freeman and listening to his interviews and seeing him with the team I’m absolutely thrilled. I believe he will bring us our first National championship in decades. It’s gonna be an adjustment and will take time. All of us Irish faithful absolutely love him. He has “it”. I’m more excited than I’ve ever been for ND and our future. I think it’s the best hire they could’ve possibly made.

Love the hire. Everyone who knows him is wowed by him. They would have lost him to another team either this offseason or next. All the other coaches stayed at ND and didn't go to LSU with Kelly which speaks volumes. He's been a recruiting machine at ND. 4th best class for 2022. 2nd best class for 2023. Notre Dame lucked out here.

This coach has been around many successful programs, and you know he has observed what worked and what did not. He will do just fine. I love how people that have never coached a major (or lesser) college program know what they think is right. Notre Dame knew what they were doing when he was appointed the "Head Coach in Waiting" now let's all just sit back and watch what is going to happen. From a player's perspective this is great that there is a coach that already know how to get around their facility and what is required... I wish him all the best !!

I absolutely love this move. Everybody around South Bend is ecstatic!! Great recruiter and he's going to motivate these kids to win the BIG games that BK couldn't get done

A buckeye fan here. I really hope ND gets into the playoff and wins the NC. Brian Kelly deserves to watch his team win a NC without him. Let’s go Freeman and Fighting Irish

This almost reminds me of the dabo hire at clemson. He was an assistant coach with zero HC experience, but the players loved him so they gave him a shot, and I think we can all agree it has proven to be a great decision. These kind of guys can really build a culture that you just cant get by bringing in someone from outside with a little name recognition.

let's not forget about Tommy Rees sticking it out too! He has faith in the team and could of left for 400, 000 more but stayed. One of the best Offensive cordinators in the country.

As a Cincinnati fan, I can now say ND is my second favorite team. It's too hard not to root for Marcus Freeman. BK abandoned his team twice now right before a big bowl game or possible CFP appearance, which can't be good for recruiting. I don't see how anyone could possibly trust him at this point.

It’s a perfect move. BK left bc he wanted things to be easier for him in recruiting and administration in one year as dc Freeman has already propelled ND from annually being 15th to 20th recruiting classes under BK to top 5 next year and 2023. He has also proven with the top assistant coaches opting to stay with him at ND they as well as the players have more respect for him then Bk. I believe BK believed he took the program as far as it could go due to the kids actually being held accountable academically and I believe Freeman is going to prove that kids 18-22 actually can be outstanding in both and bring another championship to ND ending the narrative that it is no longer possible no longer the lure it’s too hard blah blah bs everybody has been saying since Holtz left.

Freeman is a great d-coordinator and recruiter and it was a forgone conclusion he’d be a head coach one day. That said, I think ND didn’t have much choice in hiring him right away to keep some continuity on the staff for a potential playoff game. If they didn’t hire him, he’s gone and the staff starts unraveling, and then you don’t have chance in the playoff game. So what choice did they have? In the long term it could very well work out for both ND and Freeman. If it doesn’t then he’ll be fired just like the previous 3 coaches before Kelly. I personally don’t see anyone besting Georgia anyway, but hey, that’s why they tee it up.

Hey Scott, If somebody offered you $100 Million you would do the same as Brian Kelly. That a whole lotta money . Marcus Freeman is going to be a great Head Coach! All the best to him!
