We go hands-on with an exclusive first test of Hasbro's upcoming Selfie Series that allows you to put your own face on a 6-inch action figure! Here's how the app works to create a 3D scan of your head, and the customization options for hair, color, and your figure body of choice. We take a close look at the resin 3D print quality of these made-to-order portraits and discuss the technology that makes these custom figures possible.

(Price is $60, and they're launching this fall in the US, for customers 16 and older.)

I’m dying to know more about the painting process. More and more manufacturers are using face printing tech instead of hand painting, or tampo, or masking. I’m curious how this deco printing process can be available for smaller manufacturers or hobbyists.

So glad you were able to get access to this Norm. I collect a few of Hasbro's 1/12 figure lines, so I'm very interested in this. I have yet to see anyone else that went to SDCC get the preview you did. Your history with 3D printing gives me exactly the perspective I needed.

An eye-glasses option is so important. Your 3D print came out very nice, but it just adds another layer of finding a separate creator to get a few pairs made up (because you know just 1 could break/get lost). Hopefully some designers/printers will start identifying themselves as making prints ideal for Selfie Series and they'll be easy to find/commission.

If you are a fan...60 bucks for this is not a barrier. I applaud them for keeping the price to the point where it is not cheap...but surely affordable enough for the hard core fan or geek. Custom isnt cheap folks...never was, never will be. 1 of 1 is always going to cost more.

Can't wait to get myself as a Ghostbuster! I hope they add the option to include glasses and other head accessories.

The lack of glasses option seems like a big missed opportunity

Wow that is a surprisingly accurate little Norm, very impressive and fun product. The glasses are super cute, great work and video Norm!

Great look into the process, thanks Norm. Big question, how swapable are the heads? is it a standard ball size or dfferent for each body?

The glasses make it perfect, nicely done.

Terrific video! It's amazing how far 3D printing has come.

once again norm knowing way more detail than the "professionals " paid to be there.

This is so awesome. I did some 3d Scans by myself with Kinect and iOS apps. Did very well. And printed in resin is, for simple usage, a nice goody for friends 👌🏼

I think the most important question is HEAD SWAPS it'd be cool to have a list of all the compatible bodies printed on the box when these go out or maybe on the app

Were there any options for facial hair that aren't just paint detailing? Asking as someone with an oversized cartoonish mustache who's fully expecting they'll have to sculpt/3D print their own to get it on the toy of themselves.

Fascinating. Thanks for all the post-visit analysis. I'm already wanting that glasses feature. (Nice job on your own "aftermarket" addition!)

This is cool. Once they get it down, hopefully we can do our own vehicles also. Next level. Hasbro Rocks!!
