I had an Icelandic horse! She was a cream colour and her name was nutmeg. She would follow me around without a lead and loved the raspberry bushes in front of our house. She was a sweet girl. I miss her a lot

Lol not me calling an 18 hand draft horse at our barn a pony 😂

Faroese horses also use the “tölt” gait, or “tølt” as it’s known in Faroese. Icelandic and Faroese horses have the same ancestral origins, so they have similar genetics. :)

I’ve got 2 icelandic horses, and i am also in care of 1 more. Truly the best horse breed (according to me), and to all the horse people thinking about a visit to iceland, I 100% recomend!

I visited Iceland back in 2019 and my favourite part was spotting all the Icelandic horses, they’re such a fascinating breed!

I once rode an Icelandic horse called Security guard. He really did keep me safe.

All horses have four gaits: walk, trot, canter, and gallop.

Lol just the idea of someone clutching their pearls after hearing their small horse called a pony made me laugh 😂

For a lot of folks calling a horse "poney" is just a term of indearment. Like calling a lion "kitty" or an adult dog "puppy." Most people know the differences but just think it's cute.

I grew up with a bunch of icelandic horses and they are so lovely ❤️✨

Now I understand why the horses on the show Norsemen seemed like ponies. So much to learn.

I've ridden islandic horses almost my entire life. Such calm, curious, smart and lovely friends.

And stubborn...as hell..

I appreciate the advice to avoid calling them the P word. 😂

At the ranch I work at, we’ve got a palomino Icelandic horse. She’s really pretty, sweet, cuddly, and SO STRONG! Her neck is thicker than our main lesson horse. She’s so precious and honestly one of my favorite horses.
