He wants to research on killer’s mindset after committing a crime to continue his criminology study in PhD, so he put his research into practice as he wasn’t able to seek volunteers to supply him those info over his reddit posting request. Would be interest to hear how he picked his targets and why he spared the other two on first floor.

I have nothing but respect for the Idaho chief. He made a promise to their families and kept it. Very well. I have a 22 year old son named Ethan and I cannot ever imagine this. I am so thankful that this may bring some closure to the families.

A fellow graduate student in his programme said the suspect had appeared confident and outgoing, but also "super awkward".
He added that he always wanted to appear clever. One thing he would always do, almost without fail, was find the most complicated way to explain something.
He had to make sure you knew that he knew it.
