So the guy who played Zhang Fei (Li Jingfei) had some type of stroke around 2020, and he had difficulty communicating, and he was in pretty rough shape, so the man who played Guan Yu (his name was Lu Shuming) helped out Li Jingfei tremendously, as they were really close. Eventually in 2022, Li Jingfei passed away from illness, and Lu Shuming also died less than a month later.

When you younger, you think highly of the 2010 version but as you get older and wiser, you actually appreciate the 1994. It like a child handed a flashy watch and think it the best he ever had meanwhile refusing the antique quality watch he given. the 1994 version to me is the most authentic in every cinematic way possible. The dialogues, the acting, the expression, the clothing, the prop, the manpower, the songs, the storyline, it seems very real and connected to ancient time. eveythign comes to life. 2010 just once again, just flashy fights, talking with no substance, pretentious acting with little heart and sincerity. It screams contrived and stale.

Some of their cast keep changing. Cheesy effect.
Yet its still a classic because
The film directors are very very strict.

-Choose faithfulness to the ancient text in its writing, and culture over desperate to show creativity
-Strict casting. Actors can get fired on the spot back then.
-They even speak smiliar to the language back then and not modern mandarin.-Fights and battles and not everything. Strict and high demand on actors and actresses acting skills and strictly follow the essence of the novel is more important back then.

I'm watching the 2010 series and was a little skeptical about a 1994 version, but some of the production values in this are even better. Those battle scenes look more organic and realistic unlike 2010's unbearable CGI and weird, tight shots/frequent cuts.
