I don't know about you guys, but I found this change to be quite weird. Why are 343 reducing every weapon's melee by 10% just to make the Mangler a 2 shot beatdown? There are so many better ways 343 could have gone about this but I'm curious to know your thoughts on this whole thing! Have a good one guys! :)

Asking 343 for a change is like making a deal with a devil or an evil genie - they'll give you what you asked for, but not what you want.

Individual shop items = less items in the shop, not bundles AND single items
New playlists = broken BTB for 3 months
Shop price reduction = sales on old items and no new content
Pros want Mangler nerf = all melees nerfed

it honestly baffles me how a weapon that has literal spikes hanging of the front is being debated on the fact that it’s melee is better than other guns that don’t… like that’s the whole point…

What's wierd is they said the BR SPECIFICALLY IN RANKED wouldn't get the nerf... so instead just make ranked specific Mangler nerfs? I'd also say rather then a melee damage nerf, the mangeler's melee SPEED should be nerfed: That would allow it to retain it's one shot melee niche., but if it's melee was slower, then it'd be riskier to rely on that as a crutch. I'd be okay with that in both ranked and social. I'd rather not have it removed from ranked entirely though, or have it be a tier 3 weapon (I don't think most of em are good enough to justify it as is)

The Mangler, as is right now, is in a perfect place, but for the sake of "inclusivity" in the competitive scene, it paid the price by getting nerfed. If I'm being honest, they should have outright either removed the weapon from Ranked, or tweak its spawn timer, so it's not that easily accessible, but still would have its own position in the sandbox.
Also the change of 10% decrease in melee damage for all weapons just makes no sense, as in a typical combat situation, you'd have to now rely on firing your weapon more, rather than close the distance for landing a few shots and then finish up with a melee. This used to be one of the stronger points in Infinite's combat design imo, which just got obliterated due to the changes taking place.
This is not exactly a positive change, as it may have fixed stuff for competitive, but causes more problems for social and in the general sandbox elements of the game.

Bro I know, I suck with all non human weapons on multiplayer anyway but I can't believe they're trying to nerf the mangler. I really don't think this is necessary.

I think a more appropriate nerf would be to just increase the time you can melee after a mangler shot. The issue is up close, you're dead to the melee before you even notice the shot first.

curious to see how it'll affect the shotgun and heatwave as well as those are also one shot beat downs currently

Eh I'm hoping it doesn't go down well so 343 will reverse this change, a huge side effect is the ar will become more dominant, Mangler was it's counter and with meelee reduced across the board, well what's to stop the ar from taking over.

Why didn’t they just cap the Mangler ammo to 24 instead of 48 and have it spawn on Needler/ Sentinel beam pads so you could control how many are in play that seems better to me

on a serious note i totally agree with this take, i dont think the competitive scene's criticisms should affect social. halo has never been completely balanced, as the focus was never on the competitive side. thats why we've always had crazy weapons and maps that are just insane.

but what 343 seem to be doing with infinite is what theyve done for their past 2 game, tailor it specifically for the competitive scene while the social fun side is just a secondary thing that is not as important to them

The mangler was perfect. I can't believe this change. I don't think any pros actually were asking for this nerf. They were asking for longer respawn times for the mangler

I wouldn’t even mind if they made strange balancing decisions if they were making balance changes every other week or so but at their current pace we’re gonna be stuck with these changes for quite a while good or bad.

343's incompetence is displayed every time they open their mouth.

When the pro's whine about something, 343 trips over themselves trying to cater to them so hard, they end up wildly over-correcting.

When the fans ask for a needed change, it's always "no, we believe what we have currently is the best decision for the health of the game, " (i.e., we know better than you, this is what your opinion should be)

Yea im honestly not just confused but pissed cause this chages how every weapon damage effects an enemy after they have been hit by melee and has anyone thought how this effects the hammer and sword

I’m all for the change. Too many scrubs relying on melee beat downs in the game. Better start working on your accuracy

I like the mangler, its part of the game. Most ppl arent sweating their nuts off every game so its not a problem. Just change it for pro matches or ranked.

I hate 343 trying to appeal to the sweatiest of pros. Literally them doing that is what made the game miserable and unenjoyable for me.
