The reason “fake banana” tastes the way it does, is because bananas did originally taste that way. A disease wiped them out and now they’re all a different breed of banana entirely. A new disease is threatening to wipe out the current popular breed, the cavendish. The gros Michele were more similar in flavor to that “fake banana” taste :)
