HTTP in Node-RED can be intimidating for the first timer but its seriously easy once you get started. The possibilities that can be whipped up in Node-RED are staggering. In this walk through we get current weather data from the OpenWeatherMap API, use the data in a Node-RED dashboard, then create our own web service to put our skills to the test!

So at the end of this video, you has shown that we can make a request from "outside" to the node-red and get a response, right?

Excellent tutorial. I have tried to expand my node red dashboard to display char fields (eg from the parsed JSON file. However it is blank on the dashboard although I see the data on the debug screen. I am using the same text display node. Can you advise me what I am doing wrong ? thanks

Openweathermap has a node now that can be installed from Manage pallete. It makes it a little easier than using HTTP request.
