⭐️ About this Episode:
Off grid septic & off grid toilet options are wildly debatable as to what is the best option. What it boils down to is what best suits your needs and budget. We considered an outhouse, a composting toilet and then the traditional flushing toilet with septic system. For us and our large family and the fact that we plan to have it on Airbnb, we wanted a zero maintenance system so we went the modern route and put in a septic system.

When it comes to number 2, I think you made the number 1 best choice for your future guest needs. You could still build an outhouse (for aesthetic looks only) just to scare the number 2 out of your guest when they arrive! 😂

You made the right choice in my opinion, if you are putting the place up for rent very few guests are going to want their week in the country interrupted by having to dump composting toilets.

I completely agree with your choice of a conventional toilet for the purpose that you need. I live in my RV full time and have a composting toilet. While it’s great for two people I think any more than that the maintenance would be too much, as with emptying also comes cleaning. It’s quite the chore. Loving the cabin thus far!

I like the “regular” toilet with the septic. I think it will offer y’all peace of mind as well when you’re away.

I think I would consider adding an outhouse as well. Besides the "charm" factor, it also would alleviate any long lines for the john.

living out in the bush and potentially covered in mud and dirt or other in hunting season, its nice to have an entrance from outside or at least be close to an outside door. just think about all them days ahead with kids playing in the animal pens and falling into the slop. lol..

Good choice 4 years off grid with a sun mar toilet a pain in a butt I would use sawdust and a bucket before I would go back to that nice that Missouri has lighter restrictions than Wisconsin but place is sold and hopefully September full time RVing God bless hope to see you on the road

You can get a good bidet that fits under your toilet seat, no electric required, better job at cleaning your bottom and only a few sheets of tp to dry a bit. Much less tp used so your septic lasts longer. Check them out at Amazon. Less than $100.

I think you guys made a great choice! I dont think you will have to worry about it at all. I am so happy for you guys. My husband Danny and I are interested in renting your cabin one day. We have a grandson in Fredericktown, MO and we want to visit with him at your cabin when it is available. Can you give us an idea of what you are thinking about as far as price? We are also retiring next July and cant wait to hit the road RVing full time. Maybe we will meet you guys on the road. I'm sure you are ready to continue your adventures. God Bless you guys! You are the sweetest family.

the difference between a 100 and 200 dollar toilet is the amount of clogs. The more expensive toilet will have a polished or glazed trap. The other difference is they also come in seat heights coming in at 18.8"

Great ideas! I would add a larger septic tank with a really good macerating toilet that way you are sure that the waist is truly getting liquefied before it goes back into the earth, you guys are great, keep up the good work and thank you for all these wonderful videos they are helping me with my projects
