I'm Latina with tan skin and I rarely get compliments from other brown skin Latinos but white non-Latinos give me compliments almost daily! It's sad that people in our own communities can't see the beauty in all of our skin tones but there are people who do see it. We should see it in ourselves more ❤

Since I grew up in a majority white neighborhood, my tan was considered gorgeous and it boosted my confidence so much!! Videos like these r exactly what people need to see! The color of ur skin does not define your beauty only the kindness of ur heart does ❤

idk why but ive always thought that everybodys skin color is so perfect for them, whenever i imagine a dif skin tone on someone they just look so weird in my head. OUR COLORS ARE THE BEST ONES FOR US YALL

YES all for decolonizing the beauty standard!! The fact that so many communities of color still hold the western idea of beauty that is shoved down our throat to such a high standard that we hurt others in our communities and ourselves to achieve it breaks my heart. I’m quite pale so while I’ve never had to deal with colorism quite like you, I’ve got a kinky coily fro and don’t straighten or relaxit, which is sadly not encouraged amongst fellow Egyptians/North Africans. Even tho 90% of us have a similar hair type and our literal ancestors in ancient Egypt wore their hair in twists like I do, I still get comments from members of my family about how to “deal with it” and make it longer and straighter and essentially whiter. It’s so frustrating, but I’m happy to see other people of color from all over the world giving voices to us who don’t fit in that western beauty standard, and calling it out as the colonial bs that it is. Thank you Monica, you are genuinley a net-positive presence on the internet and I really appreciate your content.

I grew up mortified over my pale skin. I would have given so much for your complexion. I started sunless tanner in middleschool, used makeup if my shirt came up, tanned in a tanning bed daily. Im so pale, that i cannot tan . Its so wild to me that someone with such gorgeous coloring suffered because of it. YOURE BEAUTIFUL!

my mom used to get made fun of so much for not being as light as her other siblings and it took a while for her to accept who she is and now she’s much happier and a queen 👑

Preach sister. The palest of pale and the deepest of dark and every shade in between are beautiful. Just like every hair or eye color is beautiful in its own way. Skin should be no different❤

Brown don't frown and black don't crack(unless you smoke it)...the older you get the more you'll appreciate your melanin!

I cannot believe people are asking you that!! ...but, also I can. Colorism runs so DEEP. Thank you so much for making this channel and showing all of us Brown Queens how gorgeous we are❤. You're amazing, keep doing you boo!

Love your channel! As a pasty white girl, I was always envious of those who were naturally darker, because everyone wanted to be tan and darker. I can look at a picture of the sun and get burned, but it rarely turns into a tan. Like you, it has taken a long time for me to appreciate my skin, because where you were told you were too dark, I was teased and made fun of because I was pale.

As an Indian, I loooove getting a tan! Of all the many effed up ways to judge a human being, it’s definitely one of the worst!

South Asian relative's first comment about a new born baby is about the skin color 🙄 it's worse if that's a girl with dark skin tone.
