When I was in, a night jump was generally followed by two or three weeks in the field. Other than that, night jumps were awesome, surreal (every jump was surreal), and scary.

That also was my son from 2001 to 2004 of the 82nd Airborne, 150 Charlie Company. God bless and protect our brave soldiers. We have our freedom which we take for grated everyday. Please stop and think of them and all those who have sacrificed there lives for us and where we would be today without them.

N/CE (Night/Combat Equipment) jumps where when we really made our jump pay (other than real world combat jumps, but those are only once in a lifetime). Everyone hesitantly looks forward to getting that mustard stain.

Steps taken to after a somewhat successful PLF
1. Get out of the harness quick enough too take a piss.
2. Extract rifle from carrying case .
3 .Gather up parachute, , stuff it in the kit bag you jumped with.
4. Sort thru the 500 pieces of 550 cord you used too tie down various equipment. Locate NVGs, attach nvgs to your helmet.
5. Spot your company rally point which is a IR symbol placard on a pole.
6. Done your ruck, put parachute kit bag on top of your ruck.
7. Move too your rally point at a jog, with your neck slightly bent towards the ground.
8. If you’re a grunt, prepare too hate life for the next couple of weeks too a month, because you’re most likely jumping into a field exercise.

This sucked, and yet I still miss it.

I love night jumps. You could pull-off a stand up and do all sorts of misbehavior the Lifers didn't see.
All of our night jumps at Bragg were sans equipment. Too many losses in gear.

Those guys really respected me because I told them that I'm really frightened by all this but I know what I have to do and I'm going to do it anyway they like the fact that I had healthy fear

They are moving way too fast to the ramp for combat jump. Easy sitting on chairs before hooking up, try that on 53 with full combat and web gear, my knees were shot before I was 24.
