Sting Ray Caught On Fishing Line Gives Birth | The Dodo

After getting hooked by a fisherman and brought onto a beach it became apparent this stingray was pregnant. Some people decided to cut her free and release her and her babies back out into the ocean where they belong.

The stress of being caught made her give birth, probably earlier than she would have!

This video bothered me. I see so many people saying how amazing this is and how wonderful everybody was to help this stingray mother, but all they had to do was take the hook out of her mouth, flip her over and let her go back out to sea. Just about every mother that has a live birth… Their bodies all know exactly what to do and they don’t need anyone pushing on them to help get the babies out. If anything they could have caused major damage to her reproductive system, by forcing her to give birth to her pups quicker than her body was meant to.

Why on earth would you force the birthing process?! The stingray knows what to do. Humans annoy me so much sometimes! Help her back into the water where she can give birth peacefully, and without a bunch of ignornant assholes thinking they know what's best.
