Kate Middleton says she edited Mother’s Day royal photo

It was supposed to counter the many conspiracy theories about the health of the Princess of Wales, but it did the opposite.

The photo of Kate Middleton and her three children, sent out yesterday, was the first to be issued since her abdominal surgery - but it was withdrawn by international picture agencies hours later because it had been "manipulated", in their words.

Kate has apologised, admitting in a statement: "I do occasionally experiment with editing."

As if these woman isn’t under enough stress. Give it a rest and leave her alone.

This is so stupid that shame on any journalists for thinking anything about this is unusual

Who cares if she edited a photo of HERSELF and HER KIDS!!! Absolutely pathetic world we live in these days!

Why on earth would anyone care about this?

It seems the media, once again, has blown this all out of proportion. Nobody cares that the photo was edited. It did not change the overall concept. Media, you must do better. You could have calmed the situation but, as usual, you stoked the fire.

The most important news we’ve received in years Channel 4, thanks for informing us that photo editing exists

They are only complaining because they couldn’t make any money from it!

Channel 4 news still calling Catherine, the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton. She has been married for 13 years. Some respect please. Why does she have to apologise for editing a lovely picture of her family. Leave her alone to recover from her surgery.

Because this photo isn't real and the position of limbs had to be edited in (along with Kate's oversized head which has interior lighting, whilst the kids have exterior lighting) - basically the whole image is fake, run it through an AI detector. Any gardening buddies in here? What wisteria do you know to be in full leaf in the second week of March?

Over 50% of this image is AI. The AP asked the Palace for the original image - they refuse to release it.

This is because the "original image" is several photos stitched together, then heavily shopped. There IS NO ORIGINAL SINGULAR IMAGE. If there was, KP would immediately release it to shut everyone up.

They've refused to release it.

She must have edited the photo and replaced her face because of her weight loss from chemo and didn't want the world to know about it yet. We forced her hand. Ouchies.

what is the problem so what if she manipulated the picture big deal why does it matter get a life

Why didn’t they check these photos before they released them? As far as I’m concerned, Reuters, Getty, associated press should be banned from posting pictures and articles regarding the royal family.

Why don’t we leave Kate alone! Enough with the photos!

Everyone also missed that her wedding ring is not on either in that photo. She should have her privacy but they also should not have released the photo.

Big effing deal. No apology needed. Can't please the meda-tainment employees anyway. Finally get their "sign of life' and they have to pick it apart.

This kind of editing is extremely common in every single industry and medium, and is featured on every possible social platform without any issue. Even the new iphones do it automatically now by taking burst shots (regardless of setting) and then an AI program frankensteins the images together for the best image.
If anything what's suspicious about this story is that the outlets involved "killed" the image for being edited when those same outlets all routinely publish edited photos of celebrities and politicians. The image in question wasn't even an "official" portrait, it was self published probably taken on a phone for her social media. It was not part of a press release or a news worthy event, just a family shot for mother's day. If anything the outlets involved in spreading the "kill image" notices manufactured this entire scandal just to create a story in order to appeal to armchair internet conspiracists. Which is super unethical to say the least.
