I came to love this piece watching the horror film "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" at the age of 12, it's the opening theme. I always think of Vincent Price when I hear it.

This should be played as I enter a room. Any room. Even my bathroom. After all, 'tis to my throne I go!

This was played at my Baccalaureate Ceremony at Morehead State University in 1971. It is a magnificent piece to culminate academic achievement. It was, also, the standard graduation march for Central High School, Louisville, KY.

50 years ago today (June 8th, 1970) I marched into my high school graduation to this amazing piece of music. Goose bumps!!

This was the song we marched to for our 9th grade graduation at Hamilton Jr. High School in Elizabeth, NJ 1958. I love it.

This music was effectively used in a church organ version for the soundtrack for the Vincent Price horror movie The abominable Dr. Phibes in the early 70s.

If I had this on CD, it would be blasting out of my car windows while I'm driving. Love it.

This song still forever be the song I remember as the one I walked out to as the recessional song at my high school graduation. Such a lovely piece to remember with graduation. Much better that pomp and circumstance as the processional. Haha

Always thought it was the theme to 1971's The Abominable Dr. Phibes-Mendelssohn doesn't have his name appear anywhere in the opening credits of the movie and I always assumed it was an original piece for the film. Didn't know it was an old classical piece.

The high school I graduated from had a real talented music director who combined parts of this song with parts of Pomp and Circumstance to make a graduation march that was not so boring. I don’t remember how he did it but I liked the result as I played it for 3 years and of course entered the auditorium as a graduating senior. After all these years I can hear either song and remember my graduation with fondness and maybe a bit of relief—I was ready to get out of there and go to college!

I first heard this on a classical radio station while living near Gladwin MI
in 1982. It's been a favorite of mine ever since.

I can still hear Mrs. Margaret Thornton playing this on the big pipe organ they had at the graduation of C.A. Johnson High School, Class of 1970 at The Columbia Township /

This was the music played at the recessional for my grandfather’s Harvard Class of 1921...where the words of President Lowell re: the need of clear thinking, reflected on the thinking of nations and people still mourning after the Great War.
