MELMIRA EPISODE 14 I LSM DICTIONARY

While I was re-connecting with my roots in Mexico over the summer, I had so many moments where I was wistful for not already knowing LSM (Lengua de Señas Mexicana or Mexican Sign Language). Fortunately, I traveled with Ernesto Escobedo who was part of a collaborative effort in creating the first ever LSM dictionary designed with a Deaf perspective and the connection will stay with me forever. Mexico, get ready for my next visit!

Mientras me reconectaba con mis raíces en México durante el verano, tuve tantos momentos en los que era nostálgico por no conocer LSM (lengua de señas mexicana o lenguaje de señas mexicano). Afortunadamente, viajé con Ernesto Escobedo que fue parte de un esfuerzo colaborativo en crear el primer diccionario LSM diseñado con una perspectiva sorda y la conexión se quedará conmigo para siempre. ¡ México, prepárate para mi próxima visita!

Where my family is from in Mexico I happen to find a LSM text book at a bookstore. Sadly I didn’t buy the textbook but just knowing that it’s becoming more available is a great thing to see.
