We all know that the Tesla 4680 battery is currently the most advanced battery that Elon Musk has for his Tesla EV, but frankly speaking, it cannot be denied that it is not yet impressive enough to surpass potential batteries like Toyota and Volkswagen's solid-state batteries. However, the game will soon change as Tesla is aiming for the 4680 Battery Gen 3 with at least two crazy changes that will make it the leading battery technology in terms of chemistry, of course, if Tesla succeeds. You may not know, the 4680 battery has actually gone through two generations, initially in the Model Y but it was not very efficient and Tesla removed it early to go back to using 2170 and LFP. Currently, the 4680 cells currently being produced at Giga Texas are of the second generation, which have 10% higher energy density than the type used for the Model Y. They are called "Cybercell" because they are mainly for the production of the Cybertruck with a 123 kWh battery pack size consisting of 1344 battery cells.
