Fail fast strategy is a valid engineering approach. Not being afraid to try, fail and learn is part of SpaceX's strength.

No lives lost, no expensive payload lost (except for some cargo headed for the ISS, which still did not put anyone in danger). In every case, SpaceX gathered important data that helped them in their development process. Literally NONE of the launches "went horribly wrong".

The Starship prototypes were...prototypes. They weren't failures, that's how testing goes. SN8 crashed because it lost fuel pressure. SN10 ingested helium (a result of a fix from SN8). They perfected it with SN15. This is how prototyping works.

I watched the last Falcon Heavy launch at the Cape. It was quite the experience. If any of you have the timing to see a launch in person, I cannot recommend going to one enough.

They didn't go horribly wrong. The whole point was to see if their design works by testing it to discover the mistakes so that you can fix them when they occur.

i disagree with the title. they had to fail in order to be in the position that they're now. i've watched many livestreams of SpaceX launching and it blows my mind every time :)

You don't know much about SpaceX, or inventors in general. Any experiment that does not cause injury and where something new is learned is a success.

The launches were perfect, it was the landing that failed.
As for the rockets coming back down and landing, that's crazy, awesome idea.
The Sm 8 landing looked edited (#2). Right at the end, the image jumped, just before the explosion 💥

I hate places that make a list like this and dont think about what they add to the list. All first iterations of SpaceX rockets were not expected to make it, they were made to break so they can figure out issues and fix them.

And people from NASA protested against him, saying that him and his team didin't know what they were doing. Now Elon and his amazing team have made amazing progress and incredible achievements.
