Frustrating flyaways are caused by static energy building up in dry or damaged strands - ruining smooth, sleek styles.

Professional hair stylists use a styling concentrator and round brush to tame flyaways.

We wanted to mechanise this skill and control into an attachment.

Our first prototypes used bristles, but these were a hindrance. They brought the flyaways back out.

By harnessing the Coanda effect we realised that we could grip the hair with airflow alone.

After rounds of rigorous testing, we observed an air leak pushing flyways out of sight.

This discovery unlocked the Dyson Flyaway attachment. It automatically attracts and lifts longer hairs to the front using the Coanda effect.

As a second jet hides flyaways. Giving you a smooth and shiny finish. At home.
