Two women, Janis and Ana, coincide in a hospital room where they are going to give birth. Both are single and became pregnant by accident. Janis, middle-aged, doesn’t regret it and she is exultant. The other, Ana, an adolescent, is scared, repentant and traumatized. Janis tries to encourage her while they move like sleepwalkers along the hospital corridors. The few words they exchange in these hours will create a very close link between the two, which by chance develops and complicates, and changes their lives in a decisive way.

I saw this movie yesterday, and I cannot stop thinking of it. I love the way Almodovar sees us. He truly loves women. Penelope Cruz is a brilliant actress. I loved every minute of "Parallel Mothers" and then ending...oh.the.ending. Thank you, Pedro Almodovar. I love all of your movies. This is my second favorite. (First favorite is "All About My Mother." It helped me mourn my mother. It helped me celebrate my mother. As a woman who always wanted to be a mother, but never had children, it helped me see ME. Grateful am I!

Penelope is such an incredible actress and WAY underrated. She has acted in 3 languages and is phenomenal in each role. My favourite film ever is non ti muovere, in English that means Dont move. It's an Italian movie, a bit dark...really sad film but she is incredible in it. Watch it if you can but isnt an easy find. She will always be my fav. Love her and LOVE Amoldovar.

Saw it today, what an amazing experience. The feeling that Almodovar has for womens experiences. How they are strong and make sacrifices. This is actually an interpretation of a Bible story where King Solomon has to decide whom of two mothers the baby belongs. But in "Parallel Mothers" wise man is not needed, the women have each other's back.
It's a beautiful story about love, loss and heritage.
