THE SPRING classic card flourish magic trick tutorial

"With the hands held apart the cards are made to leap from one hand to another." (RRtCM) This is the Card Spring, a classic flourish in card magic, aka. The mother of all card flourishes. ;-) The Spring is a very visual flourish with a strong impact on the audience. Performing card magic the conjurer is expected springing the cards for once at least, because this card flourish is just as famous as the Classic Thumb Fan.

I really, really enjoy all your videos. However, this video crashes at 4.09. Is it possible to fix this?

Whenever I try this instead of the cards going across to the other hand, they head from my thumb towards my body. I can counter this by angling my hand away (so the palm is facing away from me, but this clearly isn't how others do it). Is this just a practice thing, or am I getting the basics wrong?
