On July 26th, the 2024 Paris Olympics commenced. Table tennis star Sharath Kamal, who has already clinched seven gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, left no stone unturned in his preparations.

At 41, Kamal decided to opt for genetic screening, an emerging science that is becoming popular among sportspersons. 'Age is not on my side. I decided to eliminate all elements that could hinder my performance,' Sharath Kamal, Indian table tennis player
told Down To Earth.

Genetic tests provided Kamal with crucial insights into his food allergies and the specific vitamins and minerals his body required. Kamal's use of genetic testing is part of a broader trend. I've many of us Indians saying we have bad genetics which is so wrong...
We got many things wrong with our lifestyle, eating habbits, bad environment etc...during puberty it's when we develop most we spend time being book worms or being couch potatoes...
With all this it's so wrong to blame genetics...
And I'm not saying everyone having good genetics but people who have good genetics and good potential mostly are preparing for civils, engineering, doctor or even poor(their main goal is to live on day to day wages)...
Talent hunting is not being done properly...
