This is why I'm not allowed to use Neovim at work. I create a "distracting environment"

I use macros every day. It makes me feel like I'm important.

The sheer number of tiny steps needed to get this set up is in fact a feature. Steep learning curves like this pay off in the form of general applicability in a variety of use cases.

This just pushed me over the line to decide to learn vim, I'm doing it.
(had your vim video in my watch later for a while now)

me when i just multiline select and copy the enum values and multiline paste at the destination and multiline edit it, all while seeing exactly what happens at every step of the problem, and not having to go back and forth between screens, while preserving the exact order of elements
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not the only one who freaks out about these things!!! It's so satisfying using macros like this! Then, you select them all and pipe it through reverse

I'm just starting to learn how to navigate using the hjkl keys, and yank some texts, but I can feel the energy, and I can't wait! xD

I used to do a lot with macros like that as well (and it always felt like magic), but eventually I more or less switched to doing stuff like this simply using multi-caret (mainly coz the editors I used didn't have good macro support anymore). It works more or less the same, except you get instant feedback, which is really nice for when you make a small mistake that doesn't work for all of the caret starting points.

Sure, real macros are probably a tad more powerful and you can save and reuse them; but often time it's just a one off thing anyway like here.

My favorite thing about vim is how much it makes me appreciate Emacs

i feel like the sublime/ VSC multiple selections of the keyword and the upper / lower case shortcuts are easier
