From the album:
"sung in Norwegian. Written by the 19th c. Norwegian national poet Björnstjerne Björnson to a tune by Rikard Nordraak, this song later passed into oral tradition. It was brought to America and enjoyed great popularity in Norwegian communities here. lngerid is a poor girl with one single treasure: a little cap her mother once gave her. She never uses it for fear it might wear out. When she finally takes it out to put it on, she finds that it has fallen apart with age.--Stephen, guitars."
