Unless a cat is elderly and/or in poor health or a small kitten, then a healthy adult cat can handle a fox without any problems.

Yes, a cat is pound for pound a much better fighter than a fox, but frequently these foxes are just trying to be sociable. Sometimes, they just want to play, even if the playmate is a member of another species.

In our neighborhood, the male cat that is outdoors quite a bit nearly tore the face off of a fox that came into his immediate territory to challenge him.

It sounds pretty dumb when you say "The Fox didn't know what it was doing". It was jabbing in and out to find weakness or a moment of inattention. The only reason the Fox didn't win (they often do) is because the cat(s) are often equal to the task. But it is indeed pushing the felines to the limit, and their lives are on the line.

Dog like bite only, usually, while cat like bite and have 4 pawns that hit hard. I mean they will cut through fox skin and reach the bone causing acute pain.
Now really, is foxes were all that smart would think twice before hunting other carnivores. Cancel me all you want no longer care.
