Initially rending to the listener's heart as Silence does to Garro's own, Nathaniel is right. Mortarion, masked in more ways than one and foremost from himself, is posing his self-perceived role before his new (grand)father and his wider, watching family of corruption. In being so willfully right to his Emperor, Imperium and purpose Garro is indeed bestowed his soul's rightful and just ultimate resolution.
This was a death worthy of a true hero of the Death Guard and champion of humanity in the 31st century. The Heresy is ultimate grimdark war. So thank you yet again, Narrator, for rendering unto us another sadly bittersweet scene of importance to this unprecedented conflict. A standout clip for your library.
