I’m a Leeds fan, granted, but what he commented on seemed distant from what I saw. Shearer on MotD2 saw Chelsea take a beating, and no-one with him disagreed. If Tuchel wants to imagine that his team were better than Leeds, then he’s on his own in thinking that. Mendy didn’t turn around and throw the ball into his own net, did he? He was pressured by Aaronson, who took the ball and scored. Poor keeping, yes, but if Aaronson hadn’t been there, would Leeds have scored: no. Rodrigo’s header was brilliant. Harrison goal was scored following good passing. I didn’t see any goals ‘gifted’ by Chelsea to an inferior team.
In his post-match interview Tuchel was barely audible. To my mind he was clearly cowed by the performance he had just seen and didn’t really know what to say as a result. He left with his tail between his legs, as the saying goes. It was the absolute opposite of what he had expected. Maybe he needs to go spend another few hundred million pounds on better players. Or hire a decent coach to travel up in.
