The Passat name might have disappeared from the brand’s North American lineup, but it still has a solid following in Europe among family buyers with traditional tastes and business drivers. VW has sold more than 30 million Passats since the first one appeared in 1973, but adding to that total has meant some important changes for the latest car, which goes on sale in spring 2024. This time around it comes exclusively as a wagon and the Passat’s production line was unceremoniously evicted from its Emden, Germany, home to make way for the ID.4 and ID.7. If that’s a sign of VW’s shifting priorities, then so is VW’s decision to outsource the design of the Passat to sister brand Skoda, whose upcoming Superb is twinned with the VW, and which will be built alongside it in VW’s Bratislava plant.

the passat is not going to look anything lime these renderings because VW already has Arteon. passat cannot compete with the arteon in the design aspect, it has to be more ordinary, that is its place in the VW lineup. the new passat is not even going to be a sedan! it's already been announced that the new passat is going to be only an estate or brake chassis

The design is made attractive with plenty of led lights and sensors but the engine is under motorised like 1.2; 1.4; 1.5 tsi and 1.6 tdi, not at all reliable and very corrupt!!!

There was no Passat in 1973. At least not in the U.S. The VW Quantum was the predecessor to the Passat in North America. That may have changed in 1993.

What is VW doing? Why are customers being ignored and being forced to buy ugly poor handling SUV’s which have cheap interior plastic materials and like all other SUV’s no longer fit in parking spaces! Just give us a better Golf and nicer looking new Passat this 2025 just looks like a Golf and no saloon/coupe model, make a Jetta sized Arteon with a hatched boot (like Octavia or Audi A5) then it will be a decent looking car with decent sized boot and easy to fit in parking spaces. I’ve bought VWs for many years but can’t find anything in their range worth spending my money on certainly not an SUV, their design team has needed replacing for years.
