I prayed two days ago because I was really confused and conflicted about the idea of tithing under the new covenant. Even some churches don't practice tithing. I asked my friends for advice and prayed for understanding and this video showed up! God truly listens! He is working on me in the area of being generous with my finances and my heart posture.

When I was desperately poor and couldn’t afford to spare a single cent, I did my best to tithe by volunteering my spare time to the church. Cleaning up the church after service, helping set up computer equipment (so many elderly folks in church administrations!) or whatever else they needed done around the place.

For a lack of money, I offered my free time.

Giving doesn't just look like giving money. Time, talent, resources, finances - all things certain people have an abundance of to give. God has prepared good works for us to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). We should follow the lead of His Word and Spirit and walk in them. Not out of duty, but out of love and with God.

It's funny how people don't mind 20% tips to their waiters but struggle to return 10% tithe God

Testimony:

I remember back in the ‘90s I was struggling to make ends meet. My paycheck one week was $150. So I figured, okay, write my church a check for $15.

But something in my heart said, “Make it for $20.”

I balked on that. “I’m living hand to mouth as it is.”

The answer: “Don’t worry, God will take care of you.”

Then something else said, “Yeah, that’ll be some comfort when you’re homeless and sucking sidewalk because you missed your payment.”

So I stopped. I didn’t write the check for $20 or $15.

That snark made me mad. I wrote it for $30.

Had to eat frozen veggies and rice all that week, but I got through.

Ten days later, I got something from my old car insurance company. Turned out the courts determined I was overcharged, and they ordered reimbursement. I got a check for $127.

Four times what was given, and lunch money, too.

And all glory to God, I haven’t missed a meal since.

For those saying we are not obligated to give. No we are not but God gives us everything. Why not tithe back to him to show our appreciation and thankfulness. I also believe you can tithe your time to him as well.

When I tithe and give offerings, I give them directly to people who need it the most: the homeless, family and friends who need financial help, and people who travel across the country to share the gospel.

Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the Law in which the Israelites were to give 10 percent of the crops they grew and the livestock they raised to the tabernacle/temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). In fact, the Old Testament Law required multiple tithes—one for the Levites, one for the use of the temple and the feasts, and one for the poor of the land—which would have pushed the total to around 23.3 percent. Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites in the sacrificial system.

After the death of Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law, the New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should set aside, but only says gifts should be “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2). Some in the Christian church have taken the 10 percent figure from the Old Testament tithe and applied it as a “recommended minimum” for Christians in their giving.

Although no tithe is demanded of the Christian, the New Testament talks about the importance and benefits of giving. We are to give as we are able.

If you're asking how much you should give, you're missing the point. It doesn't make you a bad person by any means, and it's a common confusion, but that's not how giving works. We are called to give everything. From every second to every penny, from every success to every joy - it is all for God and no-one else, and that includes yourself. We can all work on this!

Thanks for another great video. I share these with family and friends often, and they're a great inspiration for many. I'm always excited to see what the week's topic is!

The Levitical tithe was an institution of Jewish Law for the upkeep of the Temple, administration, and the Levitical Priesthood because Levites were forbidden to work. BUT, giving to the Ministry of the Lord is definitely a good thing and is required of us. Ministries need financing. Giving of our first fruits is Scriptural, but "tithing" is part of Jewish Levitical Law that went the way of sacrificing bulls and doves. Semantics...

I literally prayed this morning for wisdom, guidance, and help on how to give to God. I spent probably 20 minutes searching Google reading articles and reddit posts from other Christians. I finally came to YouTube and your video was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, and God bless you 🙏✝️❤️

Man, this video is so special. The tip #3 impacted me, also as the story of your friend. As it says in the book of Job, God gives us EVEN MORE THAN THE DOUBLE of what we give to him. Blessed be our Lord!! ♥♥💵💵

I was just reading my study Bible and I read about Melchizedek, and I decided that he must be Jesus, but I wasn’t sure. I didn’t want to jump to the wrong conclusion, especially since scripture doesn’t explicitly say this, but I thought that Melchizedek bringing Abram the supplies for communion, receiving his tithe, and what Romans says about him, it was just the only explanation. Then I decided to click on this video, and what you said was just confirmation from The Lord! Awesome video!!
