In All Things, Have No Preferences

Miyamoto Musashi was one of the most famous samurai warriors to of ever lived and one of the key principles he left behind was “In all things, have no preferences”

The problem that we see nowadays, is that when we set out on our life’s journey - we all kind of have a good idea of what we want out of life and how we’re going to get it…

However a key thing that I think Musashi wants to highlight, is that life is highly unpredictable, shit will happen that is completely unexpected and that may cause us to have to adapt and change.

That’s why it’s so important to keep an open mind in everything.

Even though it is important to have strong values and principles and a strong vision of what we want out of life - it’s imperative to understand that what we want, what we believe and how we think, can change throughout our life - and that’s completely fine.

The ability to adapt and change is exactly what has allowed our human spieces to become the most dominant force on our planet.

This is why I think Musashi strongly highlights to always be open to new ideas new ways of thinking, and not to be stubborn in our ways.

Yes by all means stand by your principles and for what you believe in, but always remember a true warrior is always willing to adapt and their journey is one full of learning from multiple different disciplines, people and ideologies -

Granted you may not agree with the whole thing, but there most likely will be concepts that you can take and use in your own way.

And that is what is going to help push through them obstacles and help you elevate over them throughout your life’s journey as a true warrior.
