Roger shows he is human but his level is still on another level. His movement and anticipation is exceptional.

mens and womens tennis, like most other sports, are completely different. I'm a former D1 AA player and used to practice down in Hilton Head during the summer at Van Der Meer's academy (dating myself). One day, he asked me to practice against a top female ITF player there, who that same year, made it to the main draw of the US Open (where she of course lost 1st rd).

Beat her 6-3 without too much trouble. Practiced with a few other female WTA players too after college, though we didn't play sets, and it wasn't much of a struggle. Main difference that I saw was women tend to place the ball a little better, but hit much flatter and with much less pace.

Men typically generate far more pace and spin off really anything, and of course, cover the court much better.

To be honest, this really isn't a good example. It's Roger Federer, not just any random player, it's Roger. I remember this match, Tiafoe was having trouble returning Roger's serve, and Bencic was actually returning quite a few of Tiafoe's serves, and Serena is a fantastic mixed doubles player who did return more than a few Roger serves outside of these highlights and this happened and that happened and so on... Like, you can't use this as the be all end all example. Of course men and women can't compete, that's a given, but mixed doubles really is a more level playing field than you'd think. But most importantly perhaps is this question, why is this an issue? Why are we talking about this? Who cares??? I don't care, nobody of importance does for the most part. Respectfully, can we end this nonsense?

Federer was honestly such a good doubles player, his movement and racquet skill are nearly unmatched

I miss the hopman cup. This match should have lasted more, with the normal score instead of 4 games per set though.

When I was in high school, I nearly beat a female D1 player. And at the time, I would have considered myself intermediate-advanced.

The case was settled when Venus and Serena showed up at a German tennis club and said they could beat any male player ranked 200. A double specialist and the weirdest player I've ever seen showed up with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other and ranked number 202 in singles. The club personnel mentioned it to Venus and Serena. He played both of them. I think the score was 6-2, 6-1 over Venus and Serena. He said he toyed with them and could have beaten them 6-0 6-0.. It is said the matches were taped. When Venus and Serena found out, it was also supposedly said they bought the tape and either destroyed it or never released it. Serena said she was ready to take on a man after she won the US Open at age. As it turns out she couldn't beat hitting partner Sasha. Chris Evert never beat her brother who never played on the circuit. The match the video producer was talking about between a top 60 ranked female player and a1, 000 ranked male player, I saw that match on YouTube. He was a club player that was actually ranked around 1200. They pulled him at the last minute because the other female she was supposed to play pulled out. Also it was said he hadn't played a match in a while. Even so, the speed and power was too much for her. She was really pissed afterwards. Like Serena said; two different sports, two different levels. As one replyer said, we need to quit talking about it. It's not close in any of the sports or in real life..

A good friend of mine was Monica Seles' hitting partner (he was there when she was stabbed). He never lost a set to her. He was a solid D1 player, but was rank around 700 and never played on the main tour.

apparently not everyone thinks this way. when i was in highschool we faced off against the D1 girls college soccer team, we won 7-2 , they scored the first 2 goals but they got tired so quickly compare to us boys, we were faster and stronger .

I think one thing that people don’t think about is the fact that the women don’t play against men regularly like that. They never face the ball coming at such speeds, I’m sure if it became a regular thing you’d soon sharpen up.

It has always seemed stupid to me that people actually make comparisons between men and women sports. As a girl fencer, I sometimes beat my male friends in short matches, but it never happens in long ones, and thanks God we play in different competitions. We are built differently, and talent can not erase biological advantages.

it is not a difference in level. Women are not smaller men. Female body is completely different. Man upper body has at least 2x power.
