Levi's coach saw Kf2 right away during analysis, you get there if you try to rotate the knight to the kingside.

GM Neiksans actually picked up Kf2 by considering how to rotate the knight to f5 - but I agree, I wouldn’t have considered that in a million years lol. Good commentary

Tough game for Levy. He’s been better out of the opening in a lot of these games but he has to work on his middle game, he keeps having trouble finding best moves.

Thanks Hikaru for the recap. I think it will really help Levy a lot, there's plenty he can still learn from the tournament and the next one will be better. I suspect, even as an early intermediate player that GM norms are fairly hard under almost any circumstances. If it's tough and the road is a little longer than anticipated, then the celebration should be even greater. I picture a citywide, possibly even worldwide party when Levy gets GM. Levy has shown he is capable of playing at this level, the question is to be able to do it under fire OTB. It's definitely easier online for sure.

Levy did what he told us he doesn’t want to do anymore, sucked up too much clock/thinking time, didn’t use gut instinct and overthinks in the middle of the game, if he can get faster at transitioning the last 2 phases he will definitely be better off !

I appreciate you confirming that Levy does not have a GM norm yet as I've seen people comment otherwise and the FIDE website is not very clear how to check for this information.
