tinySA Ultra Low Frequency performance

Just got mine in. This is a great device! The videos are great too and for those of us that cant justify buying multi thousand dollar lab equipment but still demand usable accuracy I say thank you..

Interesting video. I just checked my TinySA (non Ultra) and get pretty much the same results on the low frequency range.
As for the Ultra model, I like the 4 inch screen. I wish they would use the second port as a tracking generator...but....you can only fit so much into a little package.
I used my TinySA as a calibrated field strength meter for checking mobile antennas. Great little analyze.

Thx for info, Erik.. Despite the LF noise steps, the actual performance is Amazing. With LNA On, Start-- Stop BW=300Khz, RBW=200Hz + a few Ft Antenna wire extension, Nighttime AM Broadcast DX stations Clearly show up in the now --130 Dbm noise Floor...Although slowing the scan rate, Reducing & tweaking the RBW setting is Magic & Very low strength signals show up...The Auto RBW isn't always Optimum & Manual reduction settings can be quite

I think there was a short production run of 100. It will be a couple of weeks before they reappear. I think it was anticipated that they might be available again before end of November.. Please correct me if I am wrong.

How well does it register short pulses in milliseconds?

Can someone please make some affordable suggestions for a receiving antenna that can be used with Tiny SA Ultra, in the range of 100 kHz to 1MHz. True quantitative calibration is not important, just being able to view the active frequencies in that band. If not an exact product, then the antenna features/specs I need be attentive to. Thanks!

Really basic question from someone not knowledgeable about radios, but if you install a more powerful antenna, and then an attenuator to protect the device, will you get a boost to your reception range or will the attenuator cancel out the benefits from the antenna?
Or in other words, let 's just say that I want to increase my reception range to let's say 2-3km in a wooded area, what kind of equipment would I need? Most antennas that I am seeing online are tuned to specific frequencies, like UHF or VHF for example. Will these antennas still be able to receive signals from 1mhz to 6ghz like the stock antenna of the TinySA does?

Hello. First, let me say both of the Tiny's are very cool as is your work on the NanoVna. That being said, Im fairly new to Radio and computing though not with zero experience. I do have Zero experience programming. Ive wanted to add a 5" LCD display to my NanoVna mainly to make it easier to grip as well as reading the data. Ive asked around here on youtube and a couple people on github for help or direction and have had zero responses. The display i want to use has a ssd 1963 mod with the samw xpt touch mod as currently on nanovna. iuve gotten as far as importing the Git Repository into CubeIde but im now so lost i dont know which direction to go. Any info, pointers, hints, etc will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time- Jason Burchell

If you attenuated all signals coming into the tinySA Ultra, how flat would the <2MHz be? (How much of what we're seeing is actually from RF in the air/from your source?)
