A few observations of my own: He's attempting to tutor Pepe to be able to fulfil a more traditional Winger role to go along with his more natural inside forward role, which is interesting; he appears to be one of many, many coaches who's preference for CF play has been influenced by Bielsa, wherein he prefers a refined-target man. His incorporation of Nketiah, his less than overly enthused disposition toward Auba's retention, and his desire to bring in Edouard - a beautiful example of a 'refined-target man' - all point to this I think.

Arsenal also need goals to come from someone other than Aubameyang. With a creative midfielder, Lacazette can start scoring goals again and wont have to do so much hold up play. It might also release Pepe's goal count. We also need goals from midfield itself as we have very few. Coutinho does these things.

Although there's no doubting Pellegrini's talent, Serie A midfielders have more often than not failed to adjust to the fast-paced PL over the years. IMO, Arsenal should primarily be looking at La Liga midfielders. Partey is probably the primary target, as we know it.

Arsenal don't seem to be in a favourable position to make high profile transfers this year, with the COVID-19 situation as well as the lack of UCL football for so long combined with high wage bills on their pay roll. We will have to see how they operate in the summer.
