Jeep Avenger first drive and review for the American Electric car!

One of the top trips I've been on and Jeep worked very hard to make this one of the best cars you can get today. It's an all-battery-powered small SUV made for the European taste but has a whole American flavour.

I can't wait to see this one on Irish roads!

Having owned 2 jeeps in Chicago very interested in this new model.

This car is made in Poland sharing a platform with some Peugeot cars, not expected to be sold in the US. So not really an American Electric car. Looks like a pretty sensible package though - given the price premium for electric cars it would have been good to know a bit more of the nice features presumably included, unless this is going to be real eco-box.

Having owned four Cherokees over the years (2 XJs and 2 KJs) I have a soft spot for the brand. That said, all four of them gave me lots of trouble (mostly related to the VM diesel engine) so it might be hard to go back. As an EV driver for nearly 6 years now, I could never go back to diesel from any brand, but I'd be keen to test drive the Avenger if the price was right. Just hope they've upped their game on build quality!

Pricing really needs to be right if this is to sell here but looks promising

Good review Bob, it would be good to acknowledge that the Avenger was the first creation designed for JEEP by their Irish Chief Exterior Designer after well over a decade with sister company Alfa Romeo. An Irishman in Turin designing European Car Of The Year. An achievement.

Good review, would have been nice to see/hear your thoughts on the rear seats and boot space, important details for any car review.

Bob any advice on leasing in Ireland? The UK seems full of options but can't find anything decent here in Ireland??

The Avenger looks fun and funky. I wonder how funky the price will be though.

A possible competitor for the Kia eSoul? The shape reminds me of the VW T-CROSS

As a former Grand Cherokee driver fond of this brand and the quality of build and fit out so good to see this car. But it looks a bit small. Not quite a real Jeep, certainly would be interested in an electric replacement of the Grand Cherokee if they ever produce same, but AWD would be essential. FWD in a Jeep is like a nun without a habit. But the car is a good looker for a family hatchback sized car. Not for me, too small and not 4x4. Good review as ever. Fun bit at the end.

Can't decide if I like it or not, how did it win European car of the year??

Jeep looks good Bob. Hopefully the European Car of the Year tag will not spoil sales. US cars have never done that well in UK though. However if price is right - talking MG area - then it might do well.

I'm a big Jeep fan, and I really like this new Avenger. Hopefully they'll price it right. Jeep tend to be pried quite expensive here, and they need to correct this.

This should be sold in the US with the dual motor set up. The Recon might be too big for some people.

Looks like a Ssangyong Tivoli that’s shrunk in the wash! Interesting car though - if it’s priced well sure it will be a big seller.

To say that a car is coming from a particular country is WRONG ("America").
This Avenger is made (fitted together) in Poland - it's platform is shared with "French" cars like Renault... It's motor is from China (battery)... etc. etc. etc.
This is the general situation for all cars today... 🙂

Certainly considering one to replace my Fiat 500x
Stellantis will, surely bring out Fiat and Alfa versions, which will be interesting to see how that pans out
These leccy cars are becoming more interesting at last

I cannot see why would you call this an "American Electric car": it was designed in Italy, based on french technology and assembled in Poland. Jeep is no longer an american brand.

It’s a good looking car. Is it a rebadged Fiat?
