VIENTIANE, LAOS // A Sleepy Capital

After a couples weeks traveling through Laos, Vientiane is a welcome departure from the rural countryside. Air conditioned restaurants, more reliable internet, shops and bars - it's a haven of civilization that you don't necessary find throughout the rest of the country. But don't be fooled: Vientiane is quite sleepy for a capital city. If anything, it's a destination for business travelers looking to do business in Laos. Backpackers shouldn't spend too much time here - just a quick stop for amenities and comforts before hitting the road again for the natural wonders of Laos.

So my 9 year old was offended that you said you didn’t have a great time in Vientiane ( correctly pronounced Vien- chanh). Mind you she was born in the states and have been home twice. My country is for people who enjoy the originality of the country, nature, history, food, and slow pace of life. For sightseeing I agree you have to travel always but it’s worth it, believe me. You should give it another try next time. I’m from the cities but prefer Luangprabang.

Laos is very peacefull and beautiful country its not for everyone who love to party alot laos is not the right place for you if u like alot of pp and lot of party Thailand is for you for me and my husband we leave in LA to much pp to much crazy think going on we love to be relaxing peacefull place like laos and we love it i think u need to know yourselfself what kine of person you're and what u like and go to the place you match

What you have said on video I agree with you JP. I am Lao but I come from in the north of Laos, Luang Prabang. I prefer Luang Prabang more than Vientiane. Oh! your last video of Luang Prabang still missing many places, hope to see more soon.

Vientiane is a lay back capital, not a lot things going on. As for me, I didn't set any expectations on Vientiane, therefore I enjoyed it ... I like just being there chilling out, relaxing and enjoying things at my own paste.

Laos is definitely different than Thai...they are more shy and not so high vibe like Thai people. But generally they are helpful and kind
