What would your choice of endurance bike be?

Just bought a Giant Defy two weeks ago and I only can agree: Outstanding comfort, superfast acceleration, rocksteady on downhills, absolutely the best bike I've ever had under my bum.

I do wonder whether it’s the designers that think, “nah, nobody’s ever going to want to fit mudguards to an endurance bike” or if it’s the accounts department that make decisions like that. Mudguard mounts should be on the list of essentials for this type of bike and on many others.

That gap between fork and head tube in Canyon is astonishing...

I bought the Lauf Uthald (Icelandic for endurance) and it is the best bang for your buck hands down. I looked at the Giant Defy but for virtually the same price I got Sram Force drivetrain and a dual sided power meter and Zipp 303s....can't beat that.

Defy with basic 105 £3600.
Endurace with basic 105 £2400. Why then are you comparing the Defy to the Endurace costing 5k with Ultegra Di2. Its not like for like and your making the Defy out to be good value when you can get a better spec Endurace for less.

I don't have any complaints about my Defy Adv Pro 2. No issues with hookless wheels and won't be running out of battery mid ride with the 105 mechanical.

Tried many bikes and my Giant Defy Pro 1 was the hands down winner. Ultegra Di2, power meter, great carbon hoops and super comfortable ride cant beat Defy. The only problem is the saddle, changed to Fizik Antares .

I’ve had my Defy Pro 1 for 3 weeks and can honestly say it’s an awesome bike! Fast, comfortable and looks good too!

How can you possibly compare a bike with Ultegra Di2 with Shimano 105 mech as if they are in the same class? And also say the Canyon is disappointing for “only” having a one sided power meter? Seems very biased to me. Yes the Giant may be a better value bike overall but that’s like comparing a VW to a Porsche and saying the VW is a better value, isn’t it?

I guess it comes down what the individual wants from a bike. I know Giant bikes get great reviews but they always look a bit meh to me. Personally I want an endurance bike that looks like a race bike as the industry keeps telling us most of us should be riding endurance. I don’t want mudguard mounts and tool compartments. Most of us are not going to race but we still a bike that has the look back ability.

I'd have picked the Cinelli, it's the only one I want to ride just by looking at it

Second time watching this video and I’m curious as to what bikes you guys actually tested ? There’s no mention of what else was tested bar the three in the video and considering the Caledonia 5, Roubaix SL8 and Domane are all in this category it’s strange none were mentioned.

I never understand why you guys worry about tyres when they’re an easy and affordable thing to upgrade.

I bought the Defy and i am really impressed, great value, I got it for under £3k new and apart from the saddle would not change anything!

I'm with Scott on this one. Swap the tyres out for Conti 5000s..if the rims are hookless, go for Schwalbe Pro 1. Lovely bikes and a lot of bang for your buck.

8:41 who's the numpty that put all the scratches down the outside of the derailleur?

The Giant Defy Pro 2 was always going to win. Value for money, the actual price point, comfort, weight, components all add to the win.
