OG Verum One - Still Worth A Look

The first gen of the Verum One has been around for quite a while at this point, and is a headphone that has always perked my curiosity. Well, I finally had a chance to grab a pair, and I’m glad I did. I pretty interesting headphone, and pretty well executed at it’s price point. Something to look at if you want something a little different.

Also worth a look to check the guy who makes these. There's good reasons he's banned from basically anywhere.

Yeah.
Verum One is my best headphone.
(I don't have higher tier headphones, HD600/6XX is my top tier.)
It has two disadvantages in my eyes.
It has unusual needs from the AMP
probably because of the unusually small impedance of it.
It has around 6 ohms impedance,
what is more like loudspeaker impedance than
what headphones used to have.
Cause of that, it can be not loud enough,
or can drive headphone outputs to
distortion or just make them
to cut off.
It was usable with everything to a certain level,
but U will need a good (powerful) enough headphone AMP
if you want to use it at its best.
For the Verum One, the best cheap headphone AMP
is definitely the Schiit Magni.
I don't really think we have a better option for the Verum.
Another option what can make the Verum dance unlimited
is if you ignore the headphone output of your power AMP,
and put the Verum to the 4 - 8 ohms loudspeaker output
of your power AMP.

The AMP must be a low noise, not humming thing.

Currently I use it with my good old 40W Sony F170
at volume level 2 from the 10.
(From volume level 3 it begins to rip your head off.)
As far as I was able to detect,
the current line of Verum (mk 2) wants a bit less juice.
The other disadvantage of the Verum that U cannot get
parts for it to repair or such.
It's a "handmade" thing, evolving, changing.
A bit of a "moving platform".
For example I got my first Verum One with a very convenient
and gorgeous brown headband padding (despite of the black one on the picture :),
but (out from my storage mistake I detected too late) it began to lint.
So I had to wrap it with a textile stuff from china,
and I can't get the original part.
(Finally it became black ... :( )
And I don't know other disadvantage.
It sounds like angels and devils,
depending on the track.
Nowadays I used to equalize it for the darker tones,
but even pushed to the shadows
it sounds cleaner than other headphones
originally tweaked to the deeper end of tonality.
Verum is cool.

I like the suspension strap too. I like the phone design in parts, in function. Heavy is not good since I'm shrinking already- so, not helpful.

I have that set and I upgraded to the newer round headband and it's a really great set...ohh I also got the new leather perforated pads. The dude got cancelled and it ruined the set.... But it's a great set.. It's totally Bespoke like you said.

I really hope nobody buys direct from this guy (buy used if you must)
He's been known to make extremely racist comments in online community spaces, and has made threats to his own customers.
