Ramirez sent Salvatierra tumbling from the ring headfirst with a sickening first-round knockout, a straight right hand slamming into the young Mexicans chin. Things could have been much worse had a ringside photographer not caught Salvatierra before the fighter landed on his head. Salvatierra somehow managed to regain his feet and clambered back into the ring, but appeared concussed and was not able to continue. The 22-year-old falls to a 8-2 record, while 25-year-old Ramirez moved to 10-0 with his eighth knockout – with today’s victory by far the most memorable. “He made a mistake and he had to pay,” said Ramirez in the post-fight interview. “He was not on my level.” He immediately called out WBC super featherweight titleholder Jesse Rodriguez, saying: “I want to fight the best out there. I don’t care.
