My theory: there were different cultures of ancient builders like the ones that lived underwater, and there were also "wind" ancient builders that treat the breeze as a god because he had a lot of power because he could leap over mobs, shoot wind charges and trigger traps and they also believed wind had a lot of power and they used the wind charges and even crafted the mace and believed copper had the power of wind because it could oxidize when exposed to air and they also used tuff because it is formed from volcanic ash which is probably drifted by wind, they build the trial chambers completely out of copper and tuff and the reason they built it is that their loot could be protected by trapped breezes and mobs and also set a lot of traps breezes could trigger so all the intruders would be dead and it also served as a protection from the wither and wanted to praise the breeze by putting him and symbol of wind on the banner and put symbols on the armor that were made out of copper and the ancient builders also designed some points to be high up so only they could reach these areas with wind charges but one day it all got abandoned

Look first a guy made a hammer named a mace then the people try to get it from him to do evil so he hid the mace in the trial chambers the mace is your weapon for a reason darkness spawns mobs right well maybe the people followed him so they went there but the zombies bit the people there stopping you from getting the key to the portal of skulk and the strongest weapon
