Naoshima: the art island designed by Tadao Ando (Japan contemporary art)

We spend an incredible two days on Naoshima Island, the artists' island where architect Tadao Ando designed the Benesse House Hotel, the Chichu Art Museum and the Lee Ufan Museum. We also loved Yayoi Kusama's giant pumpkins.

Naoshima Island is the art island of Japan. It features both museums and outdoor sculpture. The influence of Japanese architect Tadao Ando can be felt everywhere. It can be a quick day trip from Osaka, Japan, but we recommend spending the night on Naoshima Island, especially if you get the chance to spend the night at th Benesse House hotel, a hotel designed by architect Tadao Ando on the Island on Naoshima.

Wow I've never heard of this!! My dad is an architect, so this would be his dream destination. We will have to remember it in the future if we are in this area... esp. with my dad!

Ahh what a cool place. We didn't go to any of Japans smaller Islands, really awesome hotel for you to stay at! The art looks really cool too, I love seeing art dotted around towns and cities, I think it's so inclusive for everyone to appreciate.

Watching this video makes me miss Japan! Love Japan so much but haven’t been here in Naoshima! Love how colorful this outdoor museum can’t believe it’s for free! This hotel is pretty artsy and interesting! Is it expensive? You’re lucky you were both able to stay in this hotel!!!! I’m jealous 😢😢😢😢 cheers for sharing!
