Do i need to worry about the copper pads landing on the metal that pierces the strip? Or do i just stick it all the way in until it hits the wall of the connector?

Good video.. but the price of the connectors is just a bit too much.. not paying 3.99 for one clip... not unless they come out and connect it for me... can get 8 other brand for 4.99

These are such a pain to use. You are better off soldering.
